Professional Dog Grooming in Bothell, WA

It is Doggy Haven’s utmost desire to always do what is best for the dog in any of our services and our grooming salon strives to make each pet’s experience a positive one. Doggy Haven’s experienced and knowledgeable grooming staff offers an array of services including bathing, haircuts, nail trimming or grinding, ear cleaning and/or plucking, anal gland expression, and teeth brushing. All of our grooming services require an appointment. Pets must be fully vaccinated with all required immunizations. We ask that you bring the vaccine info with you to your appointment, or send it to us ahead of time, as we are not able to contact your veterinarian for you. Puppies must be at least 8 weeks old, and can be up to 6 months old without a Rabies vaccination.

Please let our groomers know about all health and/or behavior concerns your dog might have: lumps, bumps, scratches, scrapes, previous surgeries/injuries, arthritis, breathing issues, heart conditions, disabilities, anxieties, places your dog doesn’t like to be touched, things your dog might react negatively to. In addition, we use a variety of shampoos to best suit your dog’s coat and skin needs. Please let us know if your dog has allergies, sensitive skin or coat issues that you would like us to address.

Dog grooming services are available 7 days a week in the morning and early afternoon.

IF YOU ARE RUNNING LATE: Please call our office at (425) 482-4472. If you are going to be more than 15 minutes late for your appointment, you will need to reschedule.

Grooming FAQs

How long does an appointment take?

We usually estimate 2-5 hours for appointments. It depends on size, age, comfort, coat condition, and the type of service being done for each dog. The groomers may also work on more than one dog at a time in stages, so the time may depend on the volume of dogs for the day. Because of all of this, we cannot guarantee a specific time for each dog, but we will call you when your dog is ready for pickup.

Do you use heated dryers?

We do not. Heated dryers can be unsafe, so we only use room temperature forced air dryers.

Does my dog have to be in a kennel?

Yes, your dog should be comfortable in a kennel.  Most dogs do some part of their drying in a kennel.

Do you groom corded breeds?

We do not.

Do you offer hand stripping?

No, all our grooming is done with scissors or clippers.

Do you allow sedated dogs?

No, we do not allow pets to be sedated.

Do you do de-matting?

Yes, if there is a limited amount of matting we can brush them out. We DO NOT brush out dogs that are heavily matted. Skin can be sensitive and it can be painful to brush heavily matted coats. If mats are tight to the skin it can be damaging to the skin and hair. We cannot bathe or put water to a matted coat as this will worsen the matting. All mats must be removed prior to bathing. If it would be unsafe or inhumane to brush the mats out, we will need to shave them off.

How much do you charge?

Prices vary depending on breed, size, coat type, coat condition, and difficulty of groom. We can give you an estimate over the phone, but the groomer will have a more exact price once they see the dog.

Does shaving a dog decrease shedding or cool a dog down?

No. A shaved dog would just shed shorter hairs, and a dog’s coat is designed by nature to keep them cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. We only recommend shaving dogs that have “hair”: poodles, doodles, bichons, maltese, shih tzu, havanese, cocker spaniels… Dogs with hair that continues to grow. We DO NOT recommend shaving dogs with “fur” or a “double coat”: labs, pugs, huskies and malamutes, golden retrievers… Shaving these types of coats can damage the fur and runs a risk of not growing back, or growing back patchy, uneven, different colored, or different textured. It would also be exposing the dog’s skin to elements like the sun and wind. We’d only recommend shaving these types of coats if it would benefit a dog’s health in some way.
